Lakewood is a city suburb of Denver, the capital city of the American state of Colorado. It is located 7 miles west of Denver. Much of Lakewood is an upscale residential neighborhood. This city doesn’t have a true downtown area, but there are many small shopping centers. Belmar is created town center offering a mix of retail, residential, cultural, and public space. A unique aspect of Belmar is its designated Arts District, which houses a number of artist studios, several gallery spaces, and a nonprofit fine art photography school.

Transport Information

The closest major airport to Lakewood, Colorado is Denver International Airport (DEN/KDEN). This airport is located 32 miles from the city center. The suburb is easily accessed via State Highway 470 and US Route 285. From the city center, 6th Avenue passes straight through Lakewood providing an efficient link to the suburb. The area is served by Denver’s RTD bus service with the major stops being Lakewood Commons Station, Federal Center Station and Green Mountain Plaza Station. The West Rail Line, which will be the cities first RTD FasTracks rail line, is to open on April 26 and will serve Lakewood.
