Louisville is a city in the American state of Colorado. It is situated in Boulder County, 10 miles east of Boulder and 23 miles north-west of the capital city of Denver. Locals pronounce Louisville as "Lewis-ville" and not "Louie-ville."
Louisville’s economy is partially based on its nearness to Boulder and Denver. It serves as a commuter city for both. The nearest major airport to Louisville is the Denver International Airport (DEN/KDEN) which provides international and domestic flights from Denver, Colorado within 33 miles of the city center. Another major airport in the area is Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (FNL/KFNL), offering domestic flights from Fort Collins, located 43 miles from Louisville. US Route 36 borders the south-west edge of the city and provides access to Louisville via its intersections with McCaslin Boulevard and 96th Street. The Northwest Parkway also connects with the city. FasTracks’ Northwest Rail Line runs between Denver and Longmont stopping in Louisville and Boulder on the way. The Regional Transport District also provides a regional bus service linking Louisville with Denver and the surrounding area.
