Coquitlam is a city, located in British Columbia, Canada. It is a suburb of the Metropolitan Vancouver area and the fifth biggest city in the province. Coquitlam is located around 10km (6 miles) east of Vancouver, bordering several cities (Burnaby, Port Moody, New Westminster, and Port Coquitlam) and mountains (Burke Mountain and Coquitlam Mountain). It is part of the ‘Tri-Cities’ group that includes two other suburban cities and two villages of Metro Vancouver.

Business Information

Most of the city’s inhabitants commute to other cities of the Vancouver Metropolitan area for work. The main industrial area is located next to the Fraser River. The largest employers include the municipality, Art in Motion, Boulevard casino, Coca-Cola, and Sony. Most of the local retail businesses and available office space in the city are located downtown.

Entertainment And Dining Out

The city offers a considerable number of parks and green areas. Examples include the Como Lake Park, the Minnekhada Regional Park, and Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. Visitors are provided with several opportunities for walking, jogging, swimming, fishing, hiking, camping and boating. A special area of the city is Maillardville, inhabited by French migrants. Some of the various entertainment possibilities include visiting the swimming pools at the Coquitlam Aquatic Centre, skating at the Planet Ice, or going to the movies at Silver City Coquitlam. Dining options in Coquitlam includes options such as Cactus Club Café – a casual dining restaurant and Wings – menus with chicken wings and drinks.

Transport Information

Coquitlam is located 40km (24 miles) away from Vancouver International Airport. By car it is reachable by several highways: Trans Canada, Lougheed, Barnett, and North Road. A bus line connects the city with Vancouver’s Skytrain services. Getting around the city is possible with the buses, provided by TransLink public transit system.
