Distrito Federal, or Federal District, is the federal administrative district for the country of Mexico. It is roughly situated in Mexico City. However, the expanded metropolitan area of Mexico City is outside the districts boundaries. The Distrito Federal is bordered by the states of México and Morelos. This is the country’s economic and cultural hub, as well as home to the offices of the federal government.

Business Information

Within Distrito Federal are the headquarters and offices for all of the federal executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Mexican government. The countries main exports are automobiles, electronics, televisions, computers, mobile phones, LCD displays, oil, silver, fruits, vegetables, coffee, and cotton. In Mexico, mineral resources belong to the public by constitution, so the energy sector is administered by the government with some private investment. Pemex is the largest company in Mexico, and is responsible for administering research, exploration and sales of oil in the country. There are many areas throughout Distrito Federal for serviced offices.
