Bad Soden is also known as Bad Soden am Taunus. This is a town and spa in the Main-Taunus-Kreis, in the state of Hesse, Germany. Bad Soden serves as a suburb and bedroom community of Frankfurt. The town has a large and well-appointed Kurhaus, which is German for ‘health resort’. There is also an Evangelical and a Roman Catholic Church and a small hospital.

The economic health of Bad Soden is somewhat dependant on its popularity as a residential town for commuters working in Frankfurt. The area is known for its various springs, which contain carbonic acid gas and a number of iron oxides. The water is also the main export for the area. Exported as bottled water and Soden lozenges, the manufacturer Sodener Pastillen condenses the water to make the lozenges that are in great demand. This small spa town offers a selection of office space throughout the town.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Opel Zoo is located in the town of Kronberg im Taunu, twenty minutes north of Frankfurt. This private zoo is close to Wiesbaden, and has many animals and activities. It is easy to spend half a day wandering the grounds. One option for dining in Bad Soden is Gustav’s Brasserie. The restaurant serves breakfast, a nice business lunch, dinner, and late evening drinks and snacks. It also offers German and Italian dishes. Popular with the locals, you can try tapas with aioli and the Wiener schnitzel. Uzun’s Restaurant in Bas Soden offers indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great Turkish restaurant situated near the Kurpark and close to the local cinema.

Transport Information

Bad Soden is within thirty minutes of Frankfurt by car, or by commuter train. From the Bad Soden(Taunus) train station you take the S3 commuter train towards Darmstadt Hbf. It takes 26 minutes and 11 stops to get to Frankfurt (M) Galluswarte Station.
